PPGEP Publishes its 2025–2029 Development Plan (PDU)

The Graduate Program in Fisheries Engineering (PPGEP/UFC) is pleased to make available its Development Plan (PDU) for the period 2025–2029, a strategic document that will guide the Program’s academic, scientific, and administrative actions throughout the current planning cycle.

The PDU is the main strategic planning instrument of PPGEP, bringing together objectives, goals, actions, and monitoring mechanisms aimed at strengthening human resource training, scientific production, internationalization, social engagement, and academic management. The document was developed in accordance with the institutional guidelines of the Federal University of Ceará (UFC) and the recommendations established by CAPES for Brazilian graduate education.

The Plan was prepared by a dedicated Strategic Planning Committee composed of faculty members and administrative staff. Its development followed the guidelines established in UFC’s Strategic Deployment Manual, ensuring alignment with the University’s Institutional Development Plan (PDI) and with recognized strategic management practices.

In addition to institutional documents, the planning process was strongly informed by the results of the most recent CAPES Quadriennial Evaluation and its corresponding recommendations. These references enabled the Program to identify its main strengths, challenges, and opportunities for improvement. Internal self-assessment and institutional evaluation processes were also considered, ensuring that the proposed actions reflect the actual needs and priorities of PPGEP.

The document establishes strategic objectives organized according to the CAPES evaluation framework, accompanied by specific actions, short-, medium-, and long-term goals, performance indicators, and continuous monitoring mechanisms. Priority areas include strengthening student training, increasing high-quality scientific production, promoting internationalization, monitoring alumni outcomes, fostering technical and technological outputs, and enhancing the scientific and social impact of the Program.

The PDU was approved by the PPGEP Graduate Committee on May 14, 2026, and subsequently by the Council of the Center for Agricultural Sciences on June 12, 2026, becoming the Program’s official strategic planning document.

As a dynamic management instrument, the Plan may be revised and updated throughout its implementation period whenever necessary, considering institutional demands, changes in CAPES evaluation criteria, monitoring and self-assessment results, or new strategic opportunities identified by the Program.

Through the publication of the 2025–2029 PDU, PPGEP reaffirms its commitment to academic excellence, the training of highly qualified professionals, and the generation of scientific knowledge capable of contributing to the sustainable development of fisheries, aquaculture, biotechnology, and aquatic resource management.
